Empowerment Congress West Area Neighborhood Development Council will be discussing the City Council Redistricting Process. Every 10 years the people of Los Angeles have an opportunity to shape district boundaries.
At Saturday's Town Hall meeting we will discuss how redistricting relates to our neighborhoods. Tuesday's hearing is an opportunity to provide testimony directly to the commissioners selected to draw the boundaries. It will be the only hearing conducted in Council District 8 regarding the process.

The offical City Council Redistricting Commission Hearing is Tuesday, January 10, 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Expo Center - 3980 Bill Robertson Lane, Los Angeles.
The Empowerment Congress West Area Neighborhood Development Council is currently divided into two Council Districts (CD8 - Bernard Parks; and CD10 - Herb Wesson) with the following breakdown:
Cameo Plaza (CD10)
Village Green (CD8)
Baldwin Hills/Baldwin Hills Estates (CD8)
Baldwin Vista (CD8)
Baldwin Village (CD10)
Crenshaw Mall & Marlton Square (CD8)
Crenshaw Manor is split between the two districts
Leimert Park is split in between the two districts
How the Council District lines will be drawn for the next 10 years is currently being determined.

I attended the meeting and -- wow! We are already so behind the ball. I'll give a recap this weekend.
I am encouraging EVERYONE to participate, even if you're unable to attend the meeting. In a nutshell, this is all about meeting numbers and that's all the City cares about. The loudest voices will draw the lines. Please visit www.redistricting2011.lacity.org and www.redrawla.org to familiarize yourself with the process. 1/11 is the deadline.
