MLK Parade 2012 comes to Los Angeles and Crenshaw; celebration afterward in Leimert Park Village

"We do this to celelbrate the life and legacy of MLK."

More than 70,000 are expected to line the route which begins at Normandie, heads down King, left on Crenshaw to Leimert Park Village, said said Adrian Dove, CORE National Chairman, which organizes the parade.

KABC will broadcast live for two hours. 

County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas is the grand marshal. Stevie Wonder, Louis Gosset Jr. and more will be there.
"We don't believe we should do a parade without (Stevie) in it," Dove said.
The pade is lead by a long eared mule drawing an empty buck wagon with empty shoes at the end of the buckwagon in King's memory.
"But it gets upbeat after that," Dove said.
The celebration in Leimert Park Village at the end of the parade is the brainchild of Councilman Bernard Parks.
In addition to dozens of the best high school bands in the regions, the LAUSD all city band will make a rare appearance.

Dove said it's the 'largest MLK celebration in the country.
