I was on one of the first route exploration teams - and we checked out the firefighter museum. A slideshow of our trip is below.

CicLAvia announced earlier that the October 9th route heads to Chinatown and down Cetnral to the African American Fire Fighters Museum in South Los Angeles.
Now at 10 miles, Ciclavia started in April and cleared a major street of cars from east Los Angeles to Hollywood. The growth follows the example of the original Ciclovia in Colombia, which started with 7 miles and has 80 miles closed to cars every Sunday.

The CicLAvia Blog shared the details of the expanded routes:

NEW! South Spur: The south spur branches off the route downtown, south on Spring Street, east on 9th Street (which becomes Olympic) and south on  Central Avenue to the African American Firefighter Museum on Central at 14th Street. This new mileage includes Downtown Los Angeles’ Fashion District with hundreds of establishments selling colorful rolls of cloth, and a small area informally known as the “piñata district” where huge numbers of colorful piñatas are sold. The hope is to extend this route further south via Central Avenue in the future.
