The California African American Museum (CAAM) presents its 8th annual spring extravaganza, “Haute Couture With Hatitude” during Target Sundays at CAAM, April 1, 2012 beginning at 11a.m. - 5 p.m. Co-hosted by actress and singer Dawnn Lewis and Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter, the program will showcase fashion styles created by designer Kenneth “K Bobby” Edgar and CAAM’s annual hat competition.
CAAM’s galleries open at 11 a.m. and the Target Sundays program begins at 1 p.m. Co-host Dawnn Lewis is most know for her role on the hit sitcom, “A Different World.” Lewis also is a Grammy Award-winning singer and a multiple ASCAP & BMI Award-winning songwriter. The day’s activities will include a terrific lineup of live performances by D’Lai, a comedian who has taken the comedy scene by storm and has won some of the nation’s biggest African American comedy competitions; Fine Chynah, a mega girl group that includes three lead singers; and versatile singer Joram Dugay. The fashion show segment will be presented by Kenneth “K Bobby” Edgar, a seasoned designer, hair stylist and dressmaker. Remember to bring your special hat for the annual “Hatitude” competition, but you have to bring it with “Hatitude!” The competition is open to men, women and children. If you don’t have a special hat to bring, sit down at the unique art workshop held by local artist Teresa Tolliver and design your own hat.
The art workshop starts at noon and all supplies are provided by CAAM. There will be special prizes presented to the winners of the hat competition categories!

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM
The California African American Museum (CAAM) researches, collects, preserves and interprets for public enrichment the history, art and culture of African Americans. Chartered by the California State Legislature in 1977, CAAM is a state supported institution and a partner with the 501(c)(3) non- profit organization Friends, the Foundation of the California African American Museum. In addition to its permanent collection of over 6,000 objects of art, artifacts and historical documents, CAAM also houses a research library containing more than 20,000 volumes, employs and trains high school students through its Young Docents program, and hosts in-house curated exhibitions and traveling shows on a regular basis. The museum also tours CAAM exhibitions throughout California and the nation.
