Join CAAM and street artists Ayumi “Sanoizm” Chisolm, Rufus “Castro” Davis, Adah “AfroPuff” Glenn and Eric “Cre8” Walker in panel discussion on street art.  The panelists were part of a five-day event, where they tagged CAAM’s gallery walls to form the exhibition, FlashTag.   The exhibition FlashTag is on view at CAAM through August 2, 2015.  Street art, aerosol, tagging and urban hieroglyphics are just a few of the terms used to describe what is often labeled as “Graffiti” art.  This is an art form that made its way from the canvases of New York City subways to the walls and streets of Los Angeles and beyond.  AS the art form grew, so did its relationship with the Hip-Hop culture, but not before acknowledging the influences made by the genres of soul, funk and Afro-futurism.  Street art is often associated with gang culture, but in many cases it became a creative outlet that kept many artists out of gangs.  Graffiti is an international art form whereby many former and practicing artists have gone on to have successful careers in the art arena.
