freelance writer, psychotherapist, electric car saleswoman, Dem fundraiser, Mother of Boys Only (its a club, automatic entry; mine are 13, 16, 24, all good-looking and way above average)
My Leimert Park Secret:
I am a woman of many talents, many skills, and like Michael Keaton in Nightshift (film, 1982) I am an idea-guy (only I am an idea-woman.) In that film Keaton kept a recorder on his belt so he could record the ideas that leaked out of his head at all times ("edible garbage" was one; mine are better.) I have just co-authored a book: The End of the Road: The Transition to Safe, Green Horsepower -- which is way more radical than it sounds. Available on Amazon.com in about two more weeks. My favorite line in that film Nightshift was a throwaway. A middle aged woman (like me but not like me, I hope) is in a taxi, and says to her friend, re her husband, with absolute innocent outrage, "Why, if I let him, he would do whatever he wanted to do." I am a psychotherapist by training and twenty years in the profession, and I believe that grief and comedy are often two sides of the same coin, well sometimes, and that comedy is as effective an antidote for depression as meds in many cases. No joke.

A block club is a city-sanctioned, permitted organization where the members of a block gather to discuss what's going on in their neighborhood.
