In 1984 the California Historical Society honored the Walter H. Leimert Company for having been involved in California Real Estate for over 100 years.
Walter Leimert moved to Southern California in the 1920s and continued to develop planned communities. His early efforts were concentrated on parts of Glendale and East Los Angeles. Later, Leimert Park and Baldwin Hills became monuments to his talent. After World War II he was joined by his son, Walter “Tim” Leimert, Jr. The father and son team developed the impressive Beverlywood area, adjacent to Beverly Hills
The company’s history dates back to Louis Leimert in San Francisco, California. Louis Leimert had been trained as a confectioner in his native Baden, Germany. He spent a brief time in Philadelphia before moving to San Francisco in 1860 to continue his trade as a candy maker. -- Leimert.com
