LaaLaLand is a blog based in North Hollywood.
She moved from NYC where she had been a hip hop photojournalist, Uptown Manhattan real estate agent, corporate paralegal. She's now writing for television while wearing flip flops, rock climbing, kayaking and snowboarding. "Every week I create the LAalaLand Events List, a newsletter via email posting select fun and cultural things to do in LA usually for $10 or less," she writes on her blog. This weekend's highlights:
SATURDAY
SIT: Contemporary & Traditional Seating
Seating from Tanzania, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria & the Congo is presented at this exhibition exploring the notion of seats of power in traditional African societies. It also challenges the manner in which these ideas push Western perceptions of social capital and class. It also shows the influences of colonial contact on modern African seating and of traditional African seating on Western crafts. Owner/Curator CCH Pounder will also be offering one-of-a-kind pieces for sale from her famous Blue Boxes.
