No More Crime, Inc. is having a Leimert Park Homeowners and Neighborhood Association meeting to update us on the Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Project.
The meeting is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 8 at Tom Bradley Elementary School (Auditorium), 3875 Dublin Avenue.
My neighbor Harold has been valiant in his effort to get the community on board the the HPOZ. He's gone door to door with a petition and delivered nearly a 100 signs.
If 60% of homeowners of the 2,500 property owners in Leimert Park indicate interest on survey cards, we can request our Councilperson to make a motion to start the HPOZ process. Out of the 1,400 – 1,600 signatures needed, LPHNA has collected approximately 170 to date, according to NMC's August meeting minutes.
The meeting will also cover volunteer efforts with Audubon Middle School; West Area Neighborhood Development Council; Community Police Advisory Board; Community Advisory Committee; and a reporte by Officer Hendley Hawkins, Leimert Park Senior Lead Officer.
The website says the goal of LPHNA is to not only preserve property values by making sure that all properties are attractive and consistent with each other in its original form and character, but to address all safety issues that affect quality of life including but not limited to gang violence and firearm use within the community.
