Explore the rich cultural history of Leimert Park with our very own Karen Mack. L.A. was the destination for many natives from LA (Louisiana that is) during the great migration of African Americans out of South in the 20th century. With them, they brought their traditions, music and food, and gumbo was added to Los Angeles’ cultural stew. Leimert Park holds a special place in the heart of this tight knit community as a place to gather and share in their unique celebrations. On Saturday, August 4th, a Louisiana festival will take place in Leimert Park and provide the backdrop for a tour through the neighborhood. This is sure to be an exuberant fete adding to the special character that makes Leimert Park great! Laissez le bon temps rouler ! (Let the good times roll!)
