Event Description

Join StoryCorps, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to recording, preserving, and sharing the stories of people from all backgrounds and beliefs.  StoryCorps’ MobileBooth—an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio—will be parked outside the California African American Museum (CAAM) for 3 weeks. A StoryCorps interview is conducted between two people who know and care about each other. A trained facilitator guides participants through the 40-minute interview process in the recording studio; participants receive a free CD copy of their interview at the end of the interview. With participant permission, a second copy will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Reservations open at 10:00 am on October 9, and can be made by calling StoryCorps’ 24-hour toll-free reservation line at 1-800-850-4406, or visiting storycorps.org.  There is a suggested donation of at least $25 for each MobileBooth interview. If participants cannot afford to meet the suggested donation, they may participate at no cost, to ensure that StoryCorps remains a free public service. CAAM is located at 600 State Drive Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA 90037
