What do you love about your neighborhood? Join us to create artwork that reflects your community pride, love for Los Angeles, and hopes and dreams for your future experiences in The Music Center Plaza. As part of the upcoming celebration festivities for the reopening of the newly renovated Music Center Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles, LA Commons is leading a series of fun, highly creative and accessible artmaking workshops throughout L.A. County, offering everyone the opportunity to join in the celebration.
Using birds as inspiration, LA Commons will lead participants in making and designing bird-shaped puppets and signs, paper umbrellas and sound makers. After the workshop, participants have the opportunity to show off their artwork by joining The Music Center, LA Commons, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and some of L.A.’s finest dancers, musicians, puppeteers and visual artists at the Plaza for All Celebration on Saturday, August 31. We’re saving a place for you in this once-in-a-lifetime parade from Grand Park to The Music Center’s newly renovated Plaza for All! Families and friends are welcome to join along! At the celebration, be sure to grab a commemorative booklet, which will include the names of all workshop participants.
Presented in partnership with The Music Center and LA Commons, these workshops are part of a series of artmaking events happening throughout Los Angeles County. The workshop series will culminate on Saturday, August 31, 2019, with the Plaza for All Celebration that also includes artmaking, a procession and the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s annual Big Sing 2019, a giant community sing-along.
