Lula Washington Dance Theatre invites the Leimert Park community to attend its annual Kwanzaa Festival of dance and drumming on Friday, Dec. 28 @ 7:30 pm; Saturday, Dec. 29 @ 7:30 pm.; and Sunday, Dec. 30 @ 3 pm.

The concerts will be held at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre studio theater at 3773 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016.

Each concert will include performances by elder master drummer/dancers from across Africa.

Lula Washington's world famous dance company will perform, along with Lula's gifted young students. The incomparable Harambee Suite is the robust, mesmerizing finale that always sends audiences home smiling and feeling uplifted. 

Composer / drummer Marcus L. Miller has created a new musical suite called "Ma'at" For A New Generation. The work celebrates the spirit of Kwanzaa with added illuminating text from Maya Angelou; Oprah Winfrey; Nelson Mandela; Malcom X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr; and Nina Simone. 

Many of the master drummers from Leimert Park will participate.
