Renowned performance arts company, INCA, the Peruvian Ensemble, is proud to announce the world premiere of their exciting new production, “Tangos & Huaynos, Music & Dances of Argentina & Peru” at the Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 18 at 8:00pm. “Tangos & Huaynos” promises to be an unforgettable evening in celebration of the critically-acclaimed group’s 30th Anniversary of taking audiences’ breath away with their dazzling performances. The highly-anticipated show will explore the artistic and cultural expressions of two South American countries, Peru and Argentina, by pairing the vibrant music and dance traditions from the natives (Incas) and the Hispanic Criollos in Peru with the fire and passion of the Argentinean tango. Audiences will undoubtedly be moved by uplifting musical performances, colorful costuming, and stunning choreography.
INCA will showcase the beauty of two new choreographies of the traditional folk dances of Cusco, Imilla-Muniri de Moquegua and Carnaval de Umapata, plus other Peruvian classics. The group will share with those in attendance the moving rhythms and haunting melodies found in the rich folkloric traditions of the mountain and coastal regions of Peru. Special guests and co-presenters, Afrotango Ensemble, directed by virtuoso drummer Juan Pedro Estanga, will push the limits of tango with their unique fusion of traditional Argentinean music with jazz and other Latin rhythms. The ensemble will share their contemporary interpretations of compositions by Astor Piazzolla and other Argentinean tango composers. Featured vocalist, Laura Valle will bring her sensuality to the night, while Ara Tokatlian from the legendary Argentine rock band, Arco Iris, is also set to add his flavor on sax and flutes. To kick it up a notch, the Buenos Aires Tango Dance Group, led by Jorge Visconti, will add more excitement to an already spectacular program with their signature awe-inspiring choreographies.
