PUBLIC PARKING LAW NEEDS CHANGING
The City of Los Angeles needs to enforce a new law that would prohibit overnight/all day parking on residential streets.
I am a resident in the 3400 block of West 73rd Street in Los Angeles, Councilmember Parks' district and am fed up with the amount of cars that park for days, weeks, and months in front of our homes. Currently, there has been a Ford Escort who has left their car parked in front my home everyday for over six months. They will move it after two days of non-movment just a little to avoid ticketing.
What really angers me is that they do not reside on my block; the reside in apartments located on the north side of Florence Ave. I have made complaints to a past Senior Deputy for Councilmember Parks and to his son, who serves on his staff, also to DOT and was given forms for Preferential Parking by his Senior Deputy that would entail my canvassing five blocks going from door to door to have residents sign.
This is really ludicrous; why is it that our neighborhoods are so inundated with cars parked on our streets and we can't get parking restrictions like Beverly Hills, West Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, etc.?
I'm so sick and tired of coming home and having cars taking up space in front of my house, whereby if I or any of my visitors needed to park there cannot. I know my neighborhood is not the only one whose block ins run down with cars. I feel it's time that to petition our councilmembers and the mayor, to impose parking restrictions in our neighborhoods .

Cora, thanks for your comment. I agree wholeheartedly with your comment; yes, things were different years ago. Neighbors were considerate and homeowners and apartment dwellers alike parked their cars in their driveways or their designated parking spots. What my main peeve is again, the people parking permanently in front of my house live a block away in apartments on Florence Ave.and because I am the only one who has, in the past, asked that they do not, I believe are doing it deliberately This has been happening for the past several years now. And, do our elected official(s) listen, no! Hopefully, if more people are as fed up as we are, take action. I am going to again, complain (this time in writing) to Councilmember Parks to amend the parking ordinance and enforce parking restrictions in our neighborhoods.

I agree we have the same problem on Leimert Blvd. not enough parking. what can be done to help the parking situaition it might of been suitable for the 60's but it is the 21 Century everyone has a car if not 2. The parking is CRAZY especially at nite. Maybe we need Parking Permited streets like they have in Santa Monica.
