City councilman Jack Weiss and South Bay attorney Carmen Trutanich "focused on prosecutorial discretion, gang injunctions and perceived racial bias in law enforcement" in front of an "outspoken audience in Leimert Park" for more than two hours,

Trutanich and Weiss, both former prosecutors, said they would review current gang injunctions and look into removing former gang members from the list.
The
LA Times reported that Trutanich vowed to help strengthen anti-crime programs, offer alternatives to jail for young offenders and
divert youngsters to the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps or similar community programs.

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable debate: "When you guys ran for office in your primary, it was all about crime and punishment, and just now we're hearing about intervention and prevention," said Lita Herron, who runs the Youth Advocacy Coalition.
Several people criticized the Los Angeles Police Department. According to the LA Times, Trutanich said the city should have released investigative records into the 2005
fatal shooting of a black 13-year-old boy, Devin Brown, by an LAPD officer.
