I thought I was the only one bothered but a couple of days ago as I was leaving my apartment the neighbors were discussing the veryy question you pose. Yes the city was excessive in tree manicure. I guess next year we have to specify a trim not a cut. However I look forward to the season changes when they'll grow back. Question, does the trees near you home leak sap?

Unfortunately there are only trees on the ends of our block - termites or some bug came through about five years ago and the city cut them all down. About three years ago they replaced them with saplings. So no sap for me.

The other unfortunate thing is that I think the city cuts them this way because they don't plan to be back for another five years. That's how long it will take them to grow back. I do hope they grow back.

I also wondered why they would trim the trees right at the beginning of Summer when it's hot and tree shade is needed? I guess trimming them at the beginning of fall would be too much like right!
