Redevelopment Questions
Hello all...my name is Yasmeen. I am a student currently doing research at UCLA on Leimert Park and some the issues surrounding redevelopment. Basically I was given the opportunity to study any neighborhood in Los Angeles but I chose to study Leimert Park because I consider it to be of great significance to the Black community.
I had no idea that plans for redevelopment were under way. From my understanding there are some individuals who wish to make Leimert Park more muticultural. I am hoping that any of you can give me any information on redevelopment or your personal concerns as a resident of Leimert Park.
My research at UCLA will be ending next week, but I will continue researching the area for my senior thesis at UC Riveside and possibly for a dissertation one day in the future.

I would be very interested in hearing more about your research! I had my business based in Leimert Park Village for 3 years in the late 90s and many of the issues and 'battles' facing LPV today were issues we addressed even then. I've recently returned to LPV (I moved to Corona in Riverside county in 1998) in an attempt to see if I can help the Village effectively address the issues of development ... I'm launching a web site devoted to the Village @ http://www.LeimertParkVillage.org and hope to make it a hub and conduit for the community.
