My First Peace March

My first peace march was at 42nd Street Elementary School in Leimert Park on Friday January 15, 2010. It was to celebrate the peace that Martin Luther King Jr. wanted us to have between coloreds and whites.
The peace march was very fun and active. All the students got to walk around outside of the school. My class carried a Dr. King banner and talked to each other about the peace that Dr. King wanted us to have. While we were walking, we saw people driving by, some walking and others standing in front of their houses saying, “Oh my gosh, that is so beautiful!” They took pictures of us too.



My 5th year - The Peace March

This was my 5th year participating in the peace march. We walked around the school neighborhood surrounding the school. We were showing our peace signs to the cars driving by us. Our signs said, Freedom, Peace and Justice. Whenever we showed people our signs they honked for us. We were celebrating the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and how he helped bring people together.
The best part for me was when we walked passed my block. I told my friends that it was the block my house is on. I was proud to show the people who lived on my street that we were proud of Dr. King and that this is how we celebrate his birthday.
