A new booksigning and talk, "An Eames Anthology: Articles, Film Scripts, Interviews, Letters, Notes, and Speeches" (Yale University Press, 2015) about the work of Charles and Ray Eames will be held with author Daniel Ostroff who illuminates their marriage and professional partnership of fifty years.
Charles Eames (1907-1978) and Ray Eames (1912-1988) are celebrated for their groundbreaking work in furniture, architecture, exhibitions, graphic design, toys and film who worked from their offices in Venice, CA.
"An Eames Anthology" collects for the first time writings of the esteemed Los Angeles-based American architects and designers. Ostroff highlights iconic projects suich as the Eameses' Cases Study House in Pacific Palisades, the molded plywood chair, as well as their work for major coprorations as both designers (Herman Miller, Vitra) and consultants (IBM, Polaroid). Previously unpublished materials appear alongside published writing by and about the Eameses and their work, lending new insight into their creative process.
