So what brings you to Leimert Park Beat? Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am devoted to promoting economic freedom around the world for the advancement of the people.

In case you haven't noticed, the world has become a very hostile place. Basic living has become really difficult for many of us, and is quite literally impossible for millions of people every year.

Everything we need for survival: water, food, air, energy, biodiversity, compassion, have become jeopardized through our prioritization of profit over nature. Nature does not yield or negotiate. If we continually fight against it, nature will win. In other words, humanity - and countless other innocent species - could face extinction.

The time has come to make some fundamental changes to our way of life, which has become both unsustainable and unjust.

Economic freedom has been shown in numerous peer-reviewed studies to promote prosperity and other positive outcomes. It is a necessary condition for democratic development. It liberates people from dependence on government in a planned economy, and allows them to make their own economic and political choices.

Our goal is to help lower the environmental impact of the homes and lives of those living who wish to become sustainable. To reach that goal we provide education in sustainability, promote local green events, provide a free local resource in sustainable information, and create connections to other green organizations throughout the world.

Developing more sustainable communities is important to our national goals of strengthening our economy, creating good jobs now while providing a foundation for lasting prosperity, using energy more efficiently to secure energy independence, and protecting our natural environment and human health and building cashless societies where everyone can live totally free.

We come together for Sustainable Communities to help people around the country develop more environmentally and economically sustainable ways.

An ecovillage is a human scale neighborhood where people know their neighbors and care about them. People can live close to where they work and play and have access to other essential services without use of automobiles. Together, neighbors try to minimize waste and pollution of all kinds. Residents and friends work together to create a healthy community socially, physically and economically.

Urban ecovillages work with surrounding neighborhoods and the city at large to bring a whole systems perspective to urban planning and community development activities. Eden Ecovillage Demonstration is part of an national network of sustainable neighborhood groups which seek to model healthier ways of living based on environmental sustainability and social and economic justice.
