The second season of KPCC's FREE live storytelling event “Unheard L.A. — the stories of where you live” continues on August 25 at Centinela Valley Center for the Arts in Lawndale. “Unheard L.A.” features a diverse set of stories and storytellers reflecting a range of Southern California experiences, and this August show brings those stories to the South Bay.
Appropriately enough, Lawndale is also known as “the Heart of the South Bay,” thanks to its location right at the center of the region. The land where Lawndale now sits has been home to barley fields, chicken ranches, postwar suburban homes, and L.A. independent punk rock label SST Records.
