School on Wheels is a non-profit organization that has been making differences in the lives of the homeless youth in Southern California for the past 20 years. Today, hundreds of volunteers work one-on-one with children whose homelessness prevents them from getting the academic stability they desperately need. The heart of the School on Wheels’ are our volunteer tutors who come from all backgrounds and professions, with a shared goal – to reach out to a child, to teach, to mentor, and assist in their educational life.
Our South LA Learning Center offers an after school program, which provides a positive learning environment for the homeless children in the surrounding area. Other children are tutored at shelters by our amazing tutors, who commute to the site each week to help their student.
Stefanie Aguilar is the Regional Coordinator for the South LA Learning Center, as well as the Mid-City and Crenshaw District. If you are interested in tutoring our homeless youth in your community, please contact her directly at 213 256 3810 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
