From 1940-1980 numerous murals were created by African Americans in Los Angeles. The Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA) has created a Virtual Mural Tour for the California African American Museum (CAAM) as part of the Places of Validation, Art & Progression exhibition (a Getty's PST initiative). We are grateful to all the muralists, art historians, photographers, cultural organizations, and art advocates that made possible for MCLA to document this important period of African American History. Join MCLA in celebrating African American History & CAAM this Friday, September 30th, 2011 for the opening reception (7.30-10 a.m.). Museum admission is free, RSVP is required. It would be great to see you there!Isabel Rojas-WilliamsExecutive DirectorMural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA)iwilliams@muralconservancy.org155 W.
