Fri. March 22 -- Violinist Karen Briggs stretches your melodic-(J)azz expectations w/ bassist Robin Bramlett, drummer Forrest Robinson & keyboardist Nick Smith. $25.

Sat. March 23 -- W/ the chops of a studio musician & the imagination of a Picasso, South L.A. sax mainstay Charles Owens leads a band topmost in feel & experience featuring pianist Theo Saunders, bassist Henry Franklin & drummer Don Littleton. $20.

(on 1st 1 hr of Stairway To Heaven @ 53:00 segue 'n talkin' over Pharoah Sanders) "That last piece of course, was our great poet, Kamau Daáood ("Leimert Park") & the violin solo, which U heard @ the end, that was Karen Briggs & she's gon'na b @ The World Stage. This Fri., so U may want 2 check that out. TWS, in Leimert Park it's @ 4321 Degnan Bl.. Their website is theworldstage.org. & U can fine calendar listing, events. If U look @ it U'll notice the 22nd, Fri., will be Karen Briggs well b performing, BUT also, the next day, great tenor saxophonist, Charles Owens, & Charles Owens was the tenor-man on the tune jus' ahead of Kamau Daáood, & ah, the tune that we heard is was actually called "Soft Spirit" it was written by trombonist Al Hull Jr.. & it appears on Henry Franklin's album, "The Skipper @ Home". & as i said Charles Owens on tenor sax & he'll b @ TWS on Sat.. So, a nice wkend happenin' @ TWS now this wkend."

(@ 2:21:48) "speaking of vibes... we uh r lucky enough 2 hav, Maia's gon'na b playin' @ The World Stage. This wkend, this Sat, comin'-up & she will b playin' vibraphone as well as flute. She's a phenomenal vocalist, a really dynamic performer, & she'll hav an all powerful female band w/ her; Aankha Neal - vocal/piano, Tamina Johnson - vocal/piano, Shanta - bass/mbira & Aisha Gallard - drums. So, another special evening @ TWS. I don't no if U got a chance 2 see Doug Carn, uh, last wkend. But, when he was there, Maia sat-in-on a couple tunes w/ Doug Carn. It was Magical. U'll hav a chance 2 see her do her own thing. That's Mar 2nd, a wonderful day... this Sat @ TWS in beautiful Leimert Park
