Hmmm!!  sorry I meant to say that her establishment will be missed my badd. But I just read somewhere where Chef Marilyn catered an event. Ahhh yeah.

DangerMan, you sound as if she died!  I checked with Councilman Park's office and they said she simply went out of business for financial reasons but she is not completely down and out yet.  She has a new catering business near 8th and Vermont, but she only caters to large organizations and affairs like schools and weddings, etc.  Good to hear that she is still doing business in the Black community.

Carmen, I think the food at Delicious Soul Food is OK but I strive to support Black-owned businesses whenever I can and Delicious Soul Food is not one.

I like Delicious Soul Food on Crenshaw & Vernon just as well. The food is good and the service is friendly.

The question is still out there. Why did it close - the Health Department shut them down, developers bought out the property??  Who can we contact to find out? Maybe Councilman Bernard Parks office, huh? I will do just that and report back!

I've asked the same question.  It closed about a month ago.  The signs are gone and the property, including The Living Room club next door is for sale (including the liquor license.)  Chef Marilyn's Soul Food Express is definitely not reopening.  :(
