Rincon Rumbero returns to KAOS Network on June 2, after a successful first showing in May.
The event takes place from 3 PM to 6 PM, on Saturday, June 2, 2012 and is free to the public - though a monetary donation to help cover costs or a small food item for a community potluck would be appreciated.
All congas, clave, chekeres, katas, and bells will be provided. Please, do not bring your own instruments, as the integrity of Afro-Cuban drumming traditions will be maintained.
Bring your drumming, dancing, and singing skills - along with a positive attitude. If you know how to play, or are learning, you're welcome to try your hand, but if you're asked to step down from an instrument, respect the traditions that are being preserved and promoted.
We must remember that rumba and other Afro-Cuban music forms have a rich history, and in order for the music to survive and flourish - certain rules must be enforced by the community who love the music. This is not not a free-form drum circle, but an opportunity to play and learn about rumba, and other Afro-Cuban drum-based music.
The KAOS Network is located at the corner of 43rd Place and Leimert Blvd (4343 Leimert Blvd).
