PASSIONAIRE Magazine Awards 5 Women with Inspiring Women of 2023 Award

The Inspiring Women of 2023 award is a prestigious recognition of the women who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, leadership, and social responsibility in various domains.


PASSIONAIRE Magazine, the leading motivational print and digital publication for women who pursue their passions, has announced the winners of its annual Inspiring Women of 2023 Award. The award recognizes five women who have made significant contributions to their fields and communities, and who embody the spirit of passion, excellence, and innovation.

The Inspiring Women of 2023 are selected based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated outstanding achievements and leadership in their respective fields of expertise and passion.
  • Contributed to the positive impact and development of their communities and society at large.
  • They have shown creativity, originality, and innovation in their work and projects.
  • They have inspired and influenced others to pursue their passions and goals.

The Inspiring Women of 2023 are:

  • Amber Garrett, Soprano a world-renowned voice, this GRAMMY-nominated singer has performed for dignitaries around the world and collaborated with organizations such as the TODAY Television Show, and the Virginia Opera.
  • H.A. Mitchell is a motivational speaker and kids book author who has overcome a traumatic childhood. She uses her personal experience and expertise to advocate for child trauma awareness and prevention. Her book aims to help children cope with their traumas and heal from their wounds.
  • Dr. Shelia Jackson Maye has a distinguished career in vocal music, academia, and faith. She is a classically trained singer who has performed in various venues and genres. She is also a former Hampton University Administrator and Professor of Music, where she directed the annual pageant and mentored many students. In addition, she serves as a Deacon and an Elder in the Presbyterian church, demonstrating her commitment to her spiritual values.
  • Lorraine McFadden Bell a former Assistant Professor of Voice at Hampton University, has a versatile and accomplished career in Opera, Broadway, and Jazz. She is also a renowned lecturer on the contributions of African American composers to the musical world. She has collaborated with the Internationally recognized composer, Dr. Adolphus Hailstork, who has composed twelve vocal pieces specifically for her voice.
  • Laureen Alexa Trujillo is a former actress, model, and fitness instructor who leveraged her media skills to create Strength x Glory, an online platform that promotes wellness through faith and fitness. She also organizes conferences where people can connect and learn more about the benefits of combining spirituality and physical activity.
