Metro Increases Construction Activities at Park Mesa Heights for the Crenshaw/LAX Line

As part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, Metro contractor Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) continues working in the Mesa Park Heights area to install a storm drain and prepare for decking at the intersection of Hyde Park Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard.

Preparing for decking operations

Beginning tonight, Monday, Dec. 19, Metro will be working for the next eight weeks on decking preparation at the intersection of Hyde Park and Crenshaw boulevards. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Friday.

What to expect:

  • Eastbound and westbound vehicular access on Hyde Park Boulevard at Crenshaw Boulevard will be restricted.
  • Northbound and southbound access through Crenshaw Boulevard will be maintained.

The storm drain installation will take place on the northwest corner of 57th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21, and is expected to be completed by the weekend of Jan. 21.

Metro is completely rebuilding the curb, gutter and sidewalk in the area. Once complete, the streetscape will include new median landscaping, sidewalk trees, streetlights, traffic signals and a repaved roadway.

Work has been scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 21, and will continue Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. On weekends, the work will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
