A+ Patron of the Arts pick @ the Best Listener's Venue -

PAPA's Prodigal Son is back-in-town, visitin'. He's worked to the top in Berlin & visits home-base periodically. His performances are a treat; upliftin', inspirin' music w/ pure improvisation. A respected leader & a musician's musician who's band members reciprocate.
 W/ 25+ yrs in Deutschland Berlin, Amerikan performances are rare. He's assembled a Amerikan Ensemble w/ our local bestists. Expect a virtuous, outstandin', good2b home a'visitin' gig'n w/ U & Yo'z, guaranteed. -  O-!

Fri. Sept. 22 [miscalendared last week] -- Returning home from a German sojourn, Horace Tapscott saxist Fuasi pays tribute to Hank Mobley, Cannonball Adderley and other '60s composers with a crack band featuring trumpeter Nolan Shaheed, pianist Tateng Katindig, bassist Jeff Littleton and drummer Ramon Banda. Highly recommended for the music, the history and the community vibe. At the World Stage, 4321 Degnan Blvd., Leimert Park 90008; 9pm (two sets); $20; The World Stage
