ACTION ALERT!

City Council Hearing on Fresh & Easy’s Proposal for a Neighborhood Market in South LA
Wednesday, December 8th 2010  10:00 AM
Council Chambers  City Hall Room #340
200 N. Spring Street  Los Angeles 90012

Fresh & Easy is the first full-service grocer to express an interest in locating in South Los Angeles in more than 20 years. An appeal, based largely on the market’s design, has been filed against the market proposed for Crenshaw and 52nd Street . The appeal will be heard at next week's City Council meeting as part of the Council’s regular agenda.

If you want to have more healthy food choices in South LA and are tired of traveling outside our community to buy wholesome foods, we encourage you to:

1. Sign up with Tanishia and attend this meeting. A bus will be available from CHC to City Hall and back.

I'll be there Heather!!!!! About freak'in time a major is looking at this neighborhood! I'm so sick of having to leave my home area because there aren't any stores I shop at, in Leimert Park! What do we as a community, have to do to make sure FRESH & EASY or TRADER JOE'S hears from us?

Tanisha said that there is an appeal in opposition to the development of the store that was filed by a group called HOPE. They apparently are a part of the Park Mesa Neighborhood Council, even though the President of the Council is in full support of the supermarket.

Tanshia said that the Communty Health Council "is only concerned with bringing fresh and affordable foods into our community and since Fresh & Easy is the only grocer willing to come into the area, we have decided to support them in any way we can."
