On Christmas eve, we listened to a Holiday Mix of music made by the host of a 2004 part we attended.
I played "Santa Baby" three times for my wife. Not only are the lyrics clever, the delivery is impeccably comic and sexy. Alyson had never really listened to it, but I'm sure she's heard it a thousand times.
I didn't know it was
Eartha Kitt till I heard the
news Christmas evening. Of course she's so much more than that song. The New York Times compares her to Lena Horne, Bette Midler, Julie Andrews and yes, even, Barbra Streisand.
Kitt, a native of South Carolina, spoke four languages and sang in seven. Remember when James Brown died two years ago at this time.

TODAY - FRIDAY
The parade from Adams and Crenshaw boulevards already ended in Leimert Park Village, but there's still a celebration of arts and crafts there.
Inglewood's celebration will held in Darby Park. Children's activities will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, including instruction on how to make masks, drums and dolls.
A traditional procession will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees are requested by organizers to wear traditional African or ancestral attire and bring musical instruments and dancing shoes, as well as bringing pictures of deceased loved ones to be put on the Ancestral Altar.
