Project Blowed, a community of emcees, beatmakers, poets, hip hoppers, spoken word artists, is the subject of The Good Life documentary about the legendary incubator cafe in Leimert Park which hosted Freestyle Fellowship, Jurassic 5, Volume 10, Medusa, Aceyalone, Myka 9, 2Mex, Busdriver, and more.
The cream of the crop continues to rise to the top with Kyle Verbs, Dumbfoundead, NoCanDo, The [SIS]TEM, DiBia$e, Aspect 1, E Super and Ras G.
As Rebecca Haithcoat of the LA Weekly sez: If an audience began to chant, "Please pass the mic!" during your performance in the Good Life Café era of Project Blowed, you weren't booted off to a dark backstage to lick your wounds; you faced your fate. Much respect, therefore, to the MCs who walked through that particularly humiliating fire, and morphed the night into Blowed, the longest running hip-hop open mic in the world.
