It was a treat to be at the Savoy on August 19th to hear and see the L.A. City Council President, Herb J. Wesson, Jr. speaking candidly and openly about his life and the challenges that are ahead for the City of Los Angeles.  His style was humble and equally powerful, giving insight to the inner workings of city government.  It was well attended by notable politicians and many community leaders representing a wide spectrum of the city. He was very concise in his answers he gave to the interviewer and a host of inquirers.  I want to thank the Savoy Night Club for opening their doors for this excellent community forum.

Alfreda...

I'm thee squeaky wheel!  After submitting my request to DWP 18 months ago with no action, I took the advise of a friend and I sent @LADWP a message on TWITTER, complaining about the lack of response and desperate need for repair/repaving of our street.  I was a little annoying and tweeted this 3x (squeak, squeak), but do you know they had two trucks over here the very next day!!!  HA!

Most major companies hire a person specifically to monitor their social medial communications as it relates to public comments or complaints. You've got to put these folks on blast sometimes if they are not responding and you are at your wits end.

Oh, but I also contacted Albert Lord, our new Field Deputy of Council District 10.  He was very helpful in following up with DWP.  And Victoria Cross of DWP has been very helpful in explaining the process and progress of the repairs.

So... with a little extra effort, I think things are moving now!

My advice to you is to talk to Albert first: albert.lord@lacity.org and see if he can help.

Good Luck, my dear and I'll see you in the neighborhood!

I have submitted a request with DWP for the same thing on 4100 block of 5th Ave., citing my house and 2 of my neighbors actually vibrate and shake like a low level earthquake when certain vehicles drive by, i.e., UPS type trucks, school buses, City trash trucks.  We also had 2 water main breaks in the past which is now sinking and tearing.
