HUNDREDS GATHER TO PROMOTE AND CELEBRATE PEACE AT THE
1ST ANNUAL CHOOSE PEACE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AND INFORMATION FAIR
In Memory Of The Victims That Have Lost Their Lives To Senseless Violence In Los Angeles, Aurora Colorado, Oak Creek Wisconsin And Other American Cities
WHO:
Manhood Camp, KAOS Network Leimert Art Walk, Los Angeles Sentinel, Walgreens, Paul Guidry, M.D., Angelus Funeral Home, Heaven Sent Business Center, 7Eleven, Southern Girl Desserts and hundreds of supporters.
WHAT:
1st Annual “Choose Peace Community Celebration and Information Fair”. This free community service event will feature resource booths of community based organizations such as Los Angeles Urban League, Common Peace Center for the Advancement of Non-Violence, Echo Parenting (Non-Violent Parenting), AIDS HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION (AHCF), Peace 4 Kids, Homeboy Industries (Gang Prevention and Youth Employment), The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Urban LA., Los Angeles Police Department and their Police Explorer Youth Program, and others.
There will be a free concert featuring the renowned First African Methodist Episcopal (F.A.M.E) Choir, Christian/Pop recording artist J. Kingdom (aka Michael J.T. Fisher) and dance performances by the Fernando Pullum Performing Arts Center dance team. There will also be a panel discussion on what it takes to promote and sustain a peaceful home and community. Additionally, there will be special activities for the children, free AIDS/HIV testing and medical screenings within the event grounds. A special thanks to Council President Herb J. Wesson’s office for their support in staging this important community service event.
