The California African American Museum will celebrate America’s birthday with Gleaming at Twilight for its Target Sundays at CAAM program, on Friday, July 4th, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Co-hosted by comedian D’Lai and actor Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter, the event will be followed by Expo Park’s annual Fireworks Extravaganza, coordinated by the offices of Councilman Curren Price of Council District Nine.
Comedian D’Lai is best known as the Season 3 semi-finalist and Season 4 finalist of TV One’s “Who’s Got Jokes?” He’s also toured nationwide, which includes the popular Bill Bellamy’s Ladies Night Our Tour. D’Lai has also appeared on the new season of BET’s “Comic View.”
The family fun-filled event will include live performances comedy, an art workshop and much more. Performers include singers Darynn Dean and Ileana Garcia and musician Cliff Beach with his band. Ventriloquist Aaron Williams will also make an appearance along with his long time comedic partner, Freddie.
CAAM’s galleries will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., where guests will be able to view CAAM’s exhibitions such as “A Memoir in Movement: Carmen de Lavallade & Geoffrey Holder” and “The Legacy of the Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company: More Than a Business.”
This event is free and open to the public. CAAM is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park. Parking is $10 and located at 39th and Figueroa Streets.
