CELEBRATE CROSS-CULTURAL AFRO INFLUENCES DURING TARGET SUNDAYS AT CAAM WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES AND AN ART WORKSHOP

LOS ANGELES (April 30, 2014) Join the California African American Museum (CAAM) and enjoy the beauty of spring with Cross-Cultural Afro Influences during Target Sundays at CAAM, May 4, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Co-hosted by actor Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter and actress T'Keyah Crystal Keymah, the program will include special tributes to mothers and the history of Cinco de Mayo.

 Co-host T’Keyah Crystal Keymah is best known for her characters on In Living Color, COSBY and That’s So Raven, as well as The Piano Lesson and T’Keyah Live! This Target Sundays at CAAM will include live performances by ventriloquist and impressionist Aaron Williams & Freddie; and soulful vocalist Wendy Smith Brune who has worked with Michael Bolton, Sheena Easton, Chaka Khan and many more.  Also performing will be the soulful Jazz and R&B vocalist Harlem Lee, who secured two spots on the Top 40 U.S. Billboard R&B charts; Rogelio Mitchell, whose musical sound is a unique blend of Calypso, Reggae, Soca and Jazz; and theater performer Andrea Meshel.

Local artist and educator Teresa Tolliver will host an art workshop for all ages.

Supplies for the art workshop will be provided by CAAM. Guests are encouraged to stop by the CAAM galleries before the event and take advantage of the free exhibitions, which opens at 11 a.m.

Collaboratively operating in partnership with its 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Friends, the Foundation of the California African American Museum, CAAM houses a permanent collection of over 3,000 objects of art, artifacts and historical documents, and a publicly accessible Research Library containing more than 20,000 volumes.
