Well I know this is a couple years old, but I would love to hear your stories of times. My parents met at the 54 Ballroom in the 50's. It's always seemed such a magical, historic place. I could always see the memories in my mom's eye's when she talked about it.

I don't know the answer, but I wish more folks would comment on their memories of the 5-4 Ballroom. I was in the Air Force during the 50's (54 to 57) and I partied hard there damn near every weekend. I was only 18 but who cared, right? Coming from a small town in Ark. (Helena/West Helena) I thought I had died and gone to Heaven. My favorites were: T-BONE WALKER, RAY CHARLES, BIG JOE TURNER, COUNT BASIE W/SARAH VAUGHN, FATS DOMINOE, LITTLE WILLIE JOHN, BOBBY BLUE BLAND, and many more. OUR music got co-opted and we got priced out after that. BUT, WHAT A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL WHILE IT LASTED........Let me know about your memories if YOU ARE FROM THAT ERA.
