A Perfect Day in the Park: University Park neighborhood council gives out free trade trees, free vegetables

The North Area Neighborhood Development Council turns the Hoover Recreation Center parking lot into a skate park and green oasis this Saturday, October 23, from noon to 5pm.

Crime drops as city parks stay open late: Villaraigosa touts Summer Nights Lights program

In a year where Los Angeles was looking to cut everything that wasn't necessary, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa chose to take a stand behind a small program that makes a big difference in out neighborhoods.

Obama comes to USC next week

USC Students to Host Visit from President Barack H. Obama, 44th president of the United States.



He will speak at the University of Southern California October 22 at 1:30 on USC's University Park Campus.



South Los Angeles is becoming a favorite stopover for the president.
