From Arlington to Crenshaw all the way down to Leimert Park the crowds were five people deep on both sides of the parade route as Los Angeles came out to celebrate the legacy of freedom and action left to us by one of the greatest Americans, Martin Luther King Jr.

It was close but I think Los Angeles ended the year with less than 300 killings – something that hasn't happened since 1967, when the population was almost 30% smaller.
