So what brings you to Leimert Park Beat? Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I want to share information on CicLAvia taking place April 15, 2012. I would love to see about having it featured on your sites. Please contact me for additional details and images.

On Sunday, April 15, CicLAvia will transform 10 miles of L.A.’s normally congested streets into a car-free, safe, family-friendly place for exploring the city from a new perspective and at a leisurely pace. CicLAvia is free and welcomes Angelenos of all ages, interests, and every kind of non-automotive transit imaginable – from sneakers to stilts and bikes to trikes.

WHAT: CicLAvia transforms Los Angeles’ streets into a car-free, linear park for strolling, biking, playing, and experiencing the city from a new perspective. CicLAvia is free of charge and open to all.

WHEN: Sunday, April 15, 2012, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

WHERE: The 10-mile CicLAvia route runs from East Hollywood to Boyle Heights and everywhere in between, including MacArthur Park, downtown, and Little Tokyo, with a north-south extension from the African American Firefighter Museum on Central Avenue to El Pueblo de Los Angeles and Olvera Street, ending at Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

HUBS: There are six hubs along the CicLAvia route, each situated in the heart of a unique neighborhood and located near public transit: the Bicycle District in East Hollywood; MacArthur Park; the African American Firefighter Museum on Central Avenue; the South Lawn of City Hall; El Pueblo de Los Angeles; and Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights.

Each hub offers free water, portable and wheelchair-accessible restrooms, first-aid stations, culinary delights, and a wide range of festivities.

THERE: The Metro red and gold lines have several stops within a block of the CicLAvia route. Additionally, three designated parking lots will be available for CicLAvia attendees and strategically located for ease and access.

Metrolink offers a Weekend Pass for only $10. This pass allows a rider to ride anytime, anywhere system-wide from 7 p.m. on Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The Weekend Pass offers free connectivity to rail or bus throughout Southern California. Metrolink has added 12 new Bike Cars to accommodate more bikes on select trains. The lower levels of the new Bike Cars are equipped with six stalls that hold three bikes each. Bike Cars are identified by a yellow “Bike Car” decal on the side of the train or bike train wrap.
