Plan now to attend the Juneteenth Heritage Festival in Leimert Park on the Vision Backlot at 43rd Street and Degnan, near Crenshaw. The festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday, June 14 & 15 from 10am to 6pm each day. That's two days of family fun that's free and open to the public. There's no better place to celebrate the freedom of our ancestors who were emancipated when Gen. Granger came ashore in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 to enforce the emancipation of the enslaved people following the end of the Civil War.
