Photo's of Leimert Park

Hey guys,

My name is Khari, I'm 15. I'm a Martial Artist and a Graphic Designer and I recently moved to Leimert Park.

I'm taking a Film internship here and I'm looking for historical pictures of Leimert Park for my end of the project. If anyone has any pictures of Leimert or can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

Did you know about the exhibit that is ending to today at CAAM? It's all about photos of South Los Angeles in the '40s and '50s. I also notices that a number of photos surrounding the Black Dahlia investigations were in the neighborhoods near LP. You probably know about these, but just in case.

Intersections of South Central: People and Places in Historic and Contemporary Photographs

November 16, 2006 – April 28, 2007, Gallery II

A unique photography exhibit that interprets the changing landscapes of South Central Los Angeles since the 1920s by featuring historic photographs from the archives of the Automobile Club of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Sentinel and California Eagle newspapers, the Los Angeles Unified School District archives, the Harry Adams collection at Cal State Northridge, and the Huntington Library. Seven prominent African-American photographers were also charged to revisit the landscapes depicted in the historic pictures to photograph the contemporary landscapes of front yards, street corners, storefronts, railway stations, pool halls, factories, churches and parks now occupying these sites that portray a multi-generational tapestry of experience. UCLA's Department of Special Collections has put online 5,700 of the images spanning the past 70 years from the Daily News and the L.A. Times in a searchable new website.
