Everyone knows that parents are a child's first teacher and their most important advocate.
That's why parents' voices are vital to the conversation about how to improve our schools. Parents have the power to mold their children from the time they are born and demand what their children need to succeed.
Unfortunately, the dialogue around parent participation has become too often polarized, with extreme rhetoric and personal attacks overshadowing what's important: getting every child into a great school with great teachers.
There are many organizations that have been working with parents, teachers and policymakers to improve outcomes for children through parent engagement. Now these organizations want to empower parents with even more.
Regardless of where you stand on the issues, join the Los Angeles Urban League and our partners for an empowering event filled with parent workshops and open and honest conversation about what we can do to improve the quality of education for every single one of our kids.
