Event Description

The International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC) is hosting "Saving Our Babies Birth Festival" to include the film screening of "Bringin' in Da Spirit", musical performers "Brotha J of X-Clan", Fountain of Roots and talented other local artist, prenatal yoga demonstration, deep relaxations demonstration, children's arts and crafts, and vendors. $20 donation requested at the door, children are free.

Supporters are rallying to bring light to the issues of maternal and infant health disparities in the black community, and the endless roles black midwives have played in preserving the legacy and saving our babies."Bringin in Da Spirit is directed by Rhonda L Haynes, the innovative and seven award winning film charts the history of African-American midwives in the United States.

Funds raised will support aspiring student midwives to attend the 7th Annual International Black Midwives and Healers Conference October 7-10, 2010, where
Grammy Award winner, Erykah Badu will be the keynote speaker.

Since 1991, The International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC) is an infant mortality prevention, breastfeeding promotion and midwife training-non-profit organization.
