Event Description

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program-established in 1999 and
funded by a $1.6 billion grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation-is hosting an outreach event at Dorsey High School on Monday,
November 14, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for male students from
underrepresented groups who are currently in grades 9-12.  Applicants
selected as Gates Millennium Scholars are presented with the opportunity
to receive up to five years of scholarship funding to pursue any
undergraduate discipline at the U.S. located, accredited college or
university of their choice and to engage in leadership development
programs that support their academic and career interests. Gates
Millennium Scholars who elect to pursue a masters and/or doctoral degree
in one of seven GMS-funded disciplines-computer science, education,
engineering, library science, mathematics, public health, or science-may
be eligible for additional funding.

We would like to solicit your help by encouraging underrepresented male
students to attend this event sponsored by the Gates Millennium Scholars
Program.  Please inform eligible male students to attend and learn more
about this extraordinary opportunity to meet, greet, and obtain tips for
crafting competitive scholarship applications.  Eligible male students

Islander American, or Hispanic American; and

*         10th graders who have attained a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or
above, 11th graders who have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above,
