The California African American Museum (CAAM), in collaboration with The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center invites you to a very special evening panel discussion anchored by the topic "Finding Beauty Through The Struggle," which explores how the inherent and resilient strength of the human spirit can give rise to creativity. The panel will feature playwright, actor, and professor Anna Deavere Smith who can be seen in the upcoming Broad Stage production “Never Givin’ Up”; visual artist and professor, Mark Steven Greenfield; actor/poet/comedian Joe Hernandez-Kolski; and Southern California Women's Caucus for Art President Cheryl Bookout. Los Angeles Times correspondent Sandy Banks will moderate the evening’s discussion. Before the panel discussion begins, Anna Deavere Smith will perform an excerpt from “Never Givin’ Up,” and will conclude with a Q&A. This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP at community@thebroadstage.com. CAAM is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA 90037. Parking is $10 per vehicle in the lot adjacent to CAAM at 39th and Figueroa Streets. For more information visit www.caamuseum.org
