Most of us know by that storytelling can teach, inform and entertain. But did you know that it could also "move you"? Well, you will not be able to sit still for the Institute of Musical Art's next Storytelling presentation!
Award-winning Storyteller, Ina Buckner-Barnette and Rhythmic Institute Percussionist, Clarence "Chazz" Ross will guide us on a spirited journey, as they present "Drumbeats and Traveling Feet", an interactive
program of stories inspired by multicultural tales and rhythms. But wait…..there's more…….. This program is highly interactive. What does that mean? It means that you will create your own music! The audience will be given African Djembe Drums and other percussion instruments. So, as Ina's tales transport us around the world, you’ll join with Chazz on drums and instruments to illuminate the trip. We will have the IMA's first Storytelling-Drum-"Circle".
Ina Buckner-Barnette ,"The Sunshine Storyteller", weaves international tales, movement and song together to create her interactive storytelling shows and workshops. She’s an Emmy awardwinning actress, video producer, LA Dreamshapers Quality performer and Los Angeles Music
Center teaching artist. Her storytelling performance will ignite your imagination, tickle your funny bone, and get you moving.
Clarence "Chazz" Ross is a multi-instrumental percussionist who, for 40 years, has performed African, Latin and World rhythms, with numerous music and dance ensembles and spoken-word artists. He is a technical showman, and his dramatic, percussive performances command standing ovations.
We'd love to have you share in the festivities and enjoy an afternoon of great entertainment. You can buy tickets online https://drumbeatsandtravelingfeet.eventbrite.com , or
by visiting our website: http://www.imalosangeles.com. You may also pay by cash, check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last. Tickets for the performance are $20.00. Ours is a small, intimate theater, and seating is limited. So please, purchase your tickets today.
As is our custom at the Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance.
