Event Description

Back by popular demand, the Institute of Musical Arts is proud to present the nineth (yes, "nineth") installment of our WOMEN'S VOICES Storytelling Concert Series at the IMA's Ray G. Clark Theater.

Like it or not, birthdays always roll around. We can chose to ignore them or celebrate them. In our next show, a group of friends gather to celebrate one of their own with a surprise birthday party. All agree to disregard calorie count as they share a delicious birthday cake. Moved by the warmth of the gathering, these long-time friends start to share stories about changes that occurred in their lives as the result of past memorable birthdays. Whether a trip to visit family, a trip to the doctor, or a trip to see Oprah, these women have seen some hilarious birthdays.

Please save the date and plan to attend "But I LIKE Birthday Cake!" and experience the rich heritage of the spoken word tradition with this ensemble group of storytellers who will present performances of original, personal stories they developed in their "Tell Me a Story" workshop. Come and "eavesdrop" on this colorful group of women, and be transported as Helen Brown, Margaret Davis, Laura Duncan, Marion Hinton and Carrie Tyler present stories that celebrate their lives and memories.  We'd love to have you share in the festivities and enjoy an afternoon of great entertainment with us.

You can buy tickets online: http://Ilikebirthdaycake.eventbrite.com, or by visiting our website:  http://www.imalosangeles.com. You may also pay by  cash, check or credit card, at the IMA office, while supplies last. As is our custom at the Institute of Musical Arts, a catered reception will follow the performance.

Ours is a small, intimate theater, and we do expect that this concert will sell out. So please, purchase your tickets today.  Tickets for the performance are $20.00. For additional information call: (323) 300-6578.
