Event Description

The Gathering, the multi-generational music project started by Jesse Sharps & film chronicled in The Gathering: Roots & Branches of Los Angeles Jazz. We have launched a GoFundMe to help make some things happen that we are working towards.

Jesse Sharps will be leading The Gathering @ the 2020 Angel City Jazz Festival in an online concert, paired w/ a virtual screening of the film. More on that to follow soon.
In addition a 15th anniversary digital release of the “Leimert Park” album & are working on a release of “Freedom’s Sweet” by Horace Tapscott, from an epic performance in 2015 that is shown in in the film, & features timely spoken word by Kamau Daáood & powerful vocals by Maia.
We are seeking some help prepping the film to stream, mixing “Freedom’s Sweet,” & also cover the costs of rehearsals & get the musicians some extra funds. As a reward donors can get CD quality download of the “Leimert Park” album or “Freedom’s Sweet” release. - Tom Paige, Producer
